regeneration

I always had this thought about how people would start over their lives. As we go along in life we collect things, shoes, clothes, memories, scars, music etc.

Sometimes all the things that we own and collect start to own us. Car payments weigh us down, past experiences prevent us from doing certain things.

What if a person and regenerate their lives from scratch?

I mean a person would take steps to rid themselves of everything they owned. Therapeutically you don't burn all your clothes or throw everything away. You take steps to give away the things you cherish to people that you cherish. You donate things to charity, you sell your home and car in preparation for your regeneration.

After everything is gone, you take a long shower, cut your hair, wash your old life away. You are given a kit, in that kit is the bare essentials that you need to start over. You have 3 plain t-shirts, 1 white dress shirt, 1 pair of jeans, handful of plain socks and underwear, 1 hoody, 1 army looking jacket, some simple sneakers, an ipod, a digital camera, a laptop (preferably a MacBook Pro). You are given a room with a bed, a chair, a desk and a large window.

Then you have a month to set out on your new life.

With the minimalist life, you have shed all your physical attachments. Now you can train to lose all your mental attachments, issues of self doubt, things you were afraid of doing. This is your chance now, you have a clean slate to work with, you can not let your old experience stop you from creating whatever you want with your life.

This is the creation of an actual second life. You made all these steps to push the reset button and now you get to start your life all over again.

I don't know if I would have the strength to do this, but I find it to be an interesting concept.

Love,

Vince
